When I got married, I was gifted a beautiful string of pearls that had belonged to my Japanese grandmother, Hisa.
But have I ever worn them?
No, not even once.

I imagine I am not the only one with family pearls sitting in a jewelry box, rarely if ever worn, but imbued with sentiment and too precious to part with.

However traditionally set pearls and stringed pearls can be incorporated or transformed into beautifully contemporary and unique pieces.

Inherited  features pearl work by SHIBUMI artists for you to layer or to help inspire ideas for redesigning your existing pearl pieces.

Redesign ideas could include:

  • Adding a new contemporary, bold clasp to a pearl necklace or bracelet

  • Complimenting existing pearls with other colored pearls or beads

  • Restringing a strand of pearls using an unexpected color thread or adding chain

  • Stay tuned for our Pearl Inspiration/Idea Guide with pricing options

If you don’t have a piece to rethink and redesign, explore a beautiful selection from our Tahitian pearl supplier that we can work with to create a piece for you.
